Just wanted to encourage you to do a series on the russo-japanese war, I would listen attentively. Since I am writing, I would also really appreciate an episode on the historic background to various Japanese movies. I’m a big movie buff, and I really like Japanese movies, but I’m sometimes lost with some of the background to the samurai epics. I have the same problem with some of the folk-stories and mythology in Japanese films – what’s up with the fox spirits and the snow woman in ‘Dreams’? How much of Studio Ghibli’s work draws from Japanese mythology and how much is just made up?
Thanks a lot for this podcast, BTW, I appreciate your work, and good luck on the job hunt.
